Fresno Regional Active Transportation Plan

Project Overview

Active Transportation is human-powered travel, including walking, bicycling, and using a wheelchair. These activities have many important health, economic, environmental, and social benefits:

♦ Helping families get to schools, parks, work, shopping, restaurants, and bus stops

♦ Improving health and reducing the incidence of disease and obesity

  ♦ Reducing air pollution

♦ Saving money on gas and car maintenance

However, many neighborhoods were developed without good trails, sidewalks, and bike lanes that make walking and biking safe and comfortable for everyone.

What is an ATP?

The Active Transportation Plan (ATP) will be a comprehensive guide that creates a vision for a network of trails, bike lanes, sidewalks, and other elements to support safe walking and bicycling in each city and across Fresno County.

Plan Process:

Key milestones in the planning process are shown below:

♦ Spring 2017 (May – June) Public Engagement & Stakeholder Outreach  Meeting Schedule

♦ Summer 2017 (July – August) Draft Plan

♦ Fall 2017 (September – October) Final plan & Environmental Review

♦ Winter 2017 (November – December) Approval of the Regional ATP

How to Get Involved

We have created an Interactive Map for you to give us your input. Tell us the problems you experience and what improvements you would like to see walking and biking in Fresno County. At this LINK, you can draw lines with your wishes for new trails, sidewalks, and bikeways and add markers with comments about locations you would like to change.

Please come to one of the many local workshops to learn about the ATP preparations and provide your input concerning biking and walking in your community.
