Measure C Farmworker Vanpool Program
The 2006 Measure "C" Extension Expenditure Plan, passed by voters in November 2006, provides funds for a Farmworker Vanpool Program. The program is designed to get commuters to their destinations safely, improve air quality, and provide a cost-effective alternative to the single occupant vehicle.It is also designed to spark the development of new vanpools and offer financial assistance to existing vanpools to ensure that they stay on the road.The Farmworker Vanpool Program is open to both public and private industry competition, as well as potential public/private partnerships.
Eligible subsidies and reimbursements for new Farmworker Vanpools can cover:
1. Start-up costs such as medical exams (up to $50.00/driver). No more than (3) drivers. 2. Driver replacement costs (up to $75.00) 3. Emergency Ride Home Program 4. Driver Incentive ($100.00/participant paid to the primary driver). Some restrictions apply. 5. Monthly vouchers issued by an eligible operator
