Model Farmland Conservation Program
In March 2007, the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Board of Directors awarded the Fresno COG and its project partners $200,000 to create and implement a Farmland Conservation Model Program for Fresno County. The resulting Farmland Conservation Model Program is intended to eventually be applied to the remaining counties in the San Joaquin Valley. The Farmland Conservation Model Program is an 18 month project starting in July of 2007. The American Farmland Trust is assisting Fresno COG and its project partners in defining a Farmland Conservation Model Program for Fresno County and the rest of the San Joaquin Valley.
MFCP Updates
On January 15, 16, 17, 2008, Fresno COG, American Farmland Trust, and the Fresno County Farm Bureau reached out to the agricultural community and the general public. Six meetings were held with members of the agricultural community and two with the general public. All meetings were well attended and the feedback that we received was excellent. We are incorporating all of the feedback we received into the project as we speak. We will release it once it is completed.
Presentations made at the FCMP public meetings are in the FCMP presentations column.
