Model Farmland Conservation Program

In March 2007, the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Board of Directors awarded the Fresno COG and its project partners $200,000 to create and implement a Model Farmland Conservation Program for Fresno County. The resulting Model Farmland Conservation Program for Fresno County is intended to eventually be applied to the remaining counties in the San Joaquin Valley. The American Farmland Trust assisted Fresno COG and its project partners in defining a Model Farmland Conservation Program for Fresno County.

On January 15, 16, 17, 2008, Fresno COG, American Farmland Trust, and the Fresno County Farm Bureau reached out to the agricultural community and the general public. Six meetings were held with members of the agricultural community and two with the general public. All meetings were well attended and the feedback that we received was excellent. The final report was completed in December 2008.
