Fresno County Regional Transportation Network Vulnerability Assessment
The Fresno County Regional Transportation Network Vulnerability Assessment will identify where the transportation network is most vulnerable to potential risks of climate change and propose strategies to remedy those impacts that will positively benefit local communities. Vulnerability assessments are a critical element to understanding the potential impacts of climate change and identifying specific locations that are likely to be affected. This assessment will inform the next update of the Regional Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategy and provide local jurisdictions information that will help them plan for current and future impacts of climate change and strategically invest in transportation infrastructure.
The plan development process will be guided by a diverse Vulnerability Assessment Working Group (VAWG), with substantial community engagement and stakeholder interviews planned. It is anticipated that the Vulnerability Assessment will be completed and adopted in early 2020.
A Vulnerability Assessment Working Group (VAWG) has been formed to oversee the development of the assessment and to promote partnerships with constituents and stakeholders. VAWG participants include local governments, transit providers, special districts, and community and public health representatives.
