Fresno County Extreme Heat Analysis and Shade Adaptation Plan
Fresno Council of Governments (FCOG) is conducting an Extreme Heat Analysis study to assess the impacts of rising temperatures on the Fresno County transportation system, public health, and vulnerable populations. This study will identify transportation assets at risk, evaluate community exposure to extreme heat events, and prioritize strategies that enhance resilience and safety. Through data analysis, mapping, and community engagement, (including target outreach and pop-up events) FCOG aims to inform local planning efforts and develop adaptive solutions that support long-term sustainability and equity across Fresno County.
Fresno COG has approved a no-cost contract amendment extending Dudek’s agreement through FY 2026/27 to complete the final phases of the Extreme Heat Analysis Study. The extension will support completion of the draft plan review, public outreach and consultation, incorporation of stakeholder feedback, and preparation of the final deliverables. The study is anticipated to be completed in September 2026, with final presentations to the TTC/PAC and Policy Board scheduled for that month.
