Fresno-Clovis Metropolitan Area Public Transportation Strategic Service Evaluation
The Fresno City Council will
hold a workshop on the Strategic Plan on May 22, 2014.
Overview
The Fresno-Clovis Metropolitan Area Public Transportation Service Evaluation is an effort to identify areas where the FAX and Stageline transit systems can improve efficiency. The Fresno Council of Governments is using both state of the art and old-fashioned methods for gathering information. We surveyed both bus systems, and examined the most sophisticated ridership data available to identify the demands for service, overcrowded and underutilized buses, and overall performance of the bus network.
There are policy choices for change
that include:
> Improve frequency on busy lines, but remove service from less busy lines
> Spread service over the whole city, but lower frequency on some lines
> Maintain the existing system and focus on improvements (such as signage, web information, and bus stops)
